A Little About “My Words”
Hello, and welcome to My Words.
I wanted to take a moment to tell you why this section of The Positivity Depot means so much to me.
I've been writing for as long as I can remember. Words have always been the way I've made sense of life—the good days, the difficult ones, love, family, gratitude, sadness, hope, and all of those little moments in between that somehow become the story of who we are.
One of my earliest memories of writing goes all the way back to when I was about seven years old. I was riding in our family station wagon on the way to Florida when I saw a man sitting alongside the road hitchhiking. For whatever reason, that image stayed with me. Before long, seven-year-old me had written an entire song about this stranger sitting on the side of the road.
I guess you could say I've been writing about the people and moments I encounter ever since.
Years later, during my junior year of high school, I met the girl who would eventually become my wife. That year, I wrote her more than 300 songs.
Unfortunately, all that songwriting may have contributed to me failing physics.
Looking back, I'd say things worked out just fine.
We got married, we've now shared nearly 40 years together, and through all those years I've continued writing songs, poems, thoughts, and little pieces of my heart for her—and for the other people and experiences that have touched my life.
Writing has also played a remarkable role in the story of my career.
When I was 24 years old, I wrote a poem that someone happened to see and believed other people might connect with. That one piece of writing helped get my products into a few stores. One opportunity led to another, and eventually I was able to leave a good, full-time job and pursue something I never could have imagined beginning with a few words on a page.
And in many ways, I've never stopped.
I write about happiness. I write about love and family. I write about appreciating life and the short amount of time we're given here. Sometimes I write about things that hurt. Sometimes I write about things that make me laugh. And sometimes a thought simply enters my mind and won't leave until I put it into words.
That's why I created this special section of The Positivity Depot.
Everything you'll find in My Words began with something I personally wrote—thoughts gathered over a lifetime, words that came from my heart, and messages that I hope might speak to something in yours.
My hope is that these aren't simply words you hang on a wall.
I hope you'll read them.
I hope your family will read them.
I hope one catches your eye on an ordinary morning and reminds you to appreciate the day you've been given. I hope another makes you think about someone you love. Maybe one encourages you when you're having a difficult day, makes you smile, brings back a memory, or simply reminds you of something important that life sometimes makes us forget.
Because I've always believed that the right words, at the right moment, can make a difference.
If you're kind enough to choose one of my pieces for your home—or to give one to someone you love—please know that means far more to me than simply making a sale.
It means that something that once existed only as a thought in my head or a feeling in my heart has found its way into someone else's life.
And after all these years of writing, I still think that's pretty incredible.
So when you're visiting our Shop, look for My Words. That's where you'll find the pieces that are especially personal to me.
I hope you find something there that speaks to you.
Thank you for reading a little bit of my story, thank you for visiting The Positivity Depot, and most of all...
Have a fabulous day, and stay positive.
